Password Rules

Wayne Health MED passwords must be at least eight characters long; may not contain your user name or any part of your full name; and must contain elements from three of the four following types of characters:

  • Upper case letters
  • Lower case letters
  • Numbers
  • Special Symbols (!@#$%^&*=)

Please Note: Due to concerns over HIPAA regulations, Wayne Health policies have changed and passwords will be checked against a database of weak and compromised passwords and will be blocked from usage. In addition, any passwords with a length of less than 14 characters will expire every 180 days. When a password is nearing expiration, you will receive an e-mail every day starting 14 days before your password is set to expire requesting that you change your password. In the event that you do not change your password and it expires, then you will not be able to login and you will need to contact the Wayne Health IT Helpdesk at 248.581.5999 for assistance.

Due to the HIPAA regulations, the Wayne Health IT Helpdesk must verify the identity of a person before setting a password and giving it out. Verifying one's identity without the password challenge question and response is not possible over the phone, e-mail, fax or postal mail.

You can set your Challenge question and response by logging into the MED Directory Page

If the challenge question and response has been set, the password can be reset online or over the phone. If the password is forgotten and the challenge question and response has not been set, the account owner will need to show up to Wayne Health HQ 400 Mack Ave, Detroit, MI 48201 with ID for a password reset.
